South West Peninsula League East: Honiton Town 3-0 Torrington
Honiton Town took control of their home game with Torrington in the Peninsula League East early on and eventually ran out comfortable 3-0 winners.
Numerous early chances went begging before Kyle Howell had a headed effort ruled out for an apparent foul on the goalkeeper.
Torrington rarely threatened the Honiton goal throughout the game making it a quiet afternoon for home goalkeeper Scott Wells-Burr.
A determined start to the second half from the Hippos saw them go in front when a teasing cross from Joe Chamberlain was headed in by Aaron Pearse.
Six minutes later they were two goals to the good, Lewis Couch firing in a trademark free kick from thirty metres out.
A third goal followed before the end as Tom Rush released Chamberlain down the left flank and he went on to finish with a powerful drive.
The Man of the Match Award went to defender Miles Barron.
South West Peninsula League East: Sidmouth AFC 2-0 Torridgeside
With Okehampton involved in cup matters, Sidmouth Town took the opportunity to move up into second place in the table with a 2-0 win over Torridgeside at Manstone Lane.
After Nathan Cooper had gone close minutes in, the Vikings went 1-0 up when Louis Jagger Cane reacted quickest to turn the ball in after a Liam Carey free kick had come back off the post. It was Jagger Cane’s thirteenth goal of the season.
He almost got a second minutes later when he raced clear on the angle but this time the visiting goalkeeper denied him with a good save.
Torridgeside enjoyed long spells of possession but rarely tested Sidmouth goalmouth Elliot Driver who was able to record his fifth clean sheet of the season since joining the club from Beer Albion.
The home side made certain of the points ten minutes from the end when Ashley Hudd nicked the ball off a defender before calmly guiding it in.
The Man of the Match Award went to Ben Miller after a commanding aerial performance at the heart of the Vikings defence.
South West Peninsula League East: Axminster Town 0-3 Stoke Gabriel and Torbay Police
A first half penalty miss proved crucial as Axminster Town went down 3-0 at home to in-form Stoke Gabriel and Torbay Police.
The visitors, who were unbeaten in ten games, took the lead through Saul Vanes after a mix-up in midfield and soon added another when the lively Josh Haynes finished off a cross.
Despite this, the Tigers were always in the game and should have pulled a goal back from the spot only for Owen Dibling to have his penalty kick saved.
Home goalkeeper Ethan Jefferson was called into action during the second half as Axminster needed to take risks pushing forward in a bid to narrow the gap.
The final nail in the coffin though came with SGTB’s third goal, a well taken effort and a second goal of the game for Haynes.
Axminster hope to have captain Matt Brown back for the visit to high-flying Okehampton Argyle on Saturday (October 16th) as well as including new signing Harrison Larcombe.
Meanwhile Honiton Town are at top of the table Cullompton Rangers and Sidmouth entertain Elburton Villa. All games kick off at 3.00pm.
