The Honiton Golf Club's men's captain vs vice captain match was cut short due to bad weather.

The match was initially rescheduled to last Sunday after the first attempt was abandoned because of heavy rain.

On the day, 14 pairs set out to play in rain, fog, and wind.

However, after seven holes, the game was stopped as conditions worsened, leading to an honourable draw.

The club's senior Friday competition saw 20 three-man teams compete in a Reverse Honiton Waltz.

The team of Derek Keen, Max Pipe, and Mick Swann won with 81 points, followed by Nigel Garwood, Brian Phillips, and David Woodruff with 78 points.

David Anderson, Steve Butcher, and John Higgins, along with Peter Blake, John Craig, and Dave Morgan, both scored 77 points, securing third and fourth places respectively.

Steve Punter and David Woodruff each won nine balls for their twos on the second hole.

In a friendly fixture, Honiton was defeated 4½ to 1½ by East Devon.

However, over two legs, Honiton secured a 6½ to 5½ win.

Mick Swann narrowly defeated Ian Collier in the Ronnie Pew Singles Knockout final.

Swann has had a successful summer, also winning the Norman Barker Pairs with Max Pipe.

The club's lady captain, Cathy Pawley, held her annual away day at Dainton Park Golf Club.

Despite questionable weather, 18 ladies competed in a Reverse Texas Scramble competition.

The rain began just as the final group reached the 18th fairway.

Following the game, the players enjoyed a carvery lunch before the prize-giving ceremony.

The winning team, Sarah Whitcombe, Linda Curtis, and Wendi Abraham, celebrated with bottles of bubbly.

Each participant also received a gift from the Lady Captain.
