An annual friendly golf match took place between the Ladies Committees of Honiton and Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Clubs, continuing a tradition that has been going on for 55 years.

This year's game was played at Honiton on September 16 and was not just a competition, but a social occasion with mixed teams from both golf clubs.

Honiton's Ladies' Captain, Cathy Pawley, presented boxes of chocolates to the winning team of Wendi Abraham (Honiton) and Georgia Richards (Taunton and Pickeridge), capping off the event after a shared meal.

In other golfing news, Tracey Smith emerged victorious in the Marker Cup, a competition Honiton Ladies have taken part in over the last two weeks.

Smith won with a combined score of 151 nett over two rounds.

The final round happened last Wednesday.

Some ladies also competed in the EG Medal rounds.

Cathy Williams won Medal 8 with a nett 75, and Janet Hughes took Medal 9 with nett 69.

Jo Donmall took home the win in the nine-hole contest with 22 points.

The Men's Section also had engaging games, with the Andy Harrison memorial against Sidmouth.

Despite a nerve-wracking away loss of 5-2, Honiton built on their commanding 6-1 lead, emerging as overall winners with an 8-6 score.

The seniors weren't left behind either.

Enjoying warm autumnal sunshine on September 20, they fought closely for the Monthly Stableford and Winter Eclectic.

John Craig topped Division 1 while Steve Blundell won Division 2 with equal 38 points.

On September 19, Past Captains competed for the Jack Knight Memorial Trophy.

The 2017 Captain Mike Sennitt stated that he had benefitted from a rare occurrence of all aspects of his game coming good at the same time, after winning with an admirable 45 points, seven ahead of the rest.

The annual past Captains event took place on September 22, with Paul Borkowski narrowly beating Julian Netherway by one point.

Julian Phillips took third place.
