Honiton Cricket Club have secured their third consecutive win, beating Feniton this week.

Honiton had the advantage from the offset, having won the toss and invited the team to bat first on a difficult track.

Honiton's Holmes, started exceptionally, managing to extract some bounce off a full-length delivery.

Likewise, Lapping used the muggy conditions to his advantage by keeping up the pace with some great early swings.

Despite an accumulation of runs behind square, reaching 25 off the first four overs, Holmes and Lapping maintained their strong performance.

Although Holmes did face some difficulty as the first opportunity to make a difference fell through due to an error by the first slip that left opener Brook off the hook.

However, redeeming himself in the next over, Holmes spectacularly dispatched Pyles and Salter.

Lapping also made his mark, bowling Wood and coming close to taking another.

A change in their line-up saw Knight and Hooper come into action, with the latter quickly finding his footing, bowling Perryman and the Gibbons consecutively.

This left the home side at 64-5 and Brook, who held his position well, on 30 not out.

However, even Brook wasn't a match for Hooper who dismissed him lbw for a respectable 43.

Despite Davies' best efforts to increase the scoring rate, he was caught out by Ostler for 22 runs.

Honiton managed to thwart the home side's attempts at exploiting the field gaps, ending their score at 142.

As the second half of the match began, after a brief rainy interlude, Canniford and Haysom made a positive start.

Despite a slightly soggy pitch, they managed to find the boundary and maintain great momentum, scoring a 50-partnership in just under nine overs.

However, the game took a turn when Haysom was, unfortunately, edged behind by Davies, leaving Honiton at 55-1.

Despite some excellent bowling by Davies and Perryman, Canniford managed to score his first 50 of the season.

Canniford's run was cut short in the following over when he was out lbw.

During the next round, Groves and Holmes kept the spectators on their toes as they took different strategies but contributed significantly to the score.

Groves cleverly batted on 19no by finding gaps, while Holmes fiercely batted on 25, moving Honiton over the finishing line in the 35th over.

This victory has firmly positioned Honiton in the championship race.

Both the top spots of the table and the chasing pack behind have now become areas of equal interest for Honiton.

Certainly, this win will boost the team's confidence as they look forward to their future games.

Honiton's next game will be at home with Exwick CC.
