In hugely challenging and wet conditions, Honiton RFC slipped to a 32-10 defeat at South Molton, writes Justin Nuttall.
The Ton started brightly and grabbed the first score with a penalty from Ben Phillips. The Honiton dominance continued and they held territorial advantage in the South Molton half, this dominance turned into points with Ben Kidson claiming the first try of the game wide left. The try was converted by Phillips from the touchline, 0-10 after 18 minutes.
Unfortunately, the game then turned on its head and South Molton took advantage of a Honiton sin bin to race into a 15-10 lead at half-time.
A controversial score, when the hosts were awarded a scrum rather than a drop-out from under the posts after they were held up over the line, saw Molton extend the lead, and despite losing a player to a red card, the North Devon marched on to victory.
