Feniton earned a rare point in a difficult Devon League campaign with a battling 1-1 draw at Budleigh Salterton, writes Alan Beer.
Fenny are still seeking their first win of the campaign and Budleigh, fresh from a 7-0 win at Barnstaple last weekend, were perhaps a little complacent in the early exchanges.
Chances were very limited, Fenny frustrating their hosts until Oscar Walsh broke the shackles with a surge inside from the flank and terrific strike that rebounded back into the goalkeeper’s arms from the inside of the post.
The Robins eventually took the lead from a corner, Simon Withers prodding the ball into the net after a goalmouth scramble. It should have been the platform for a home win but Fenny bagged a precious point thanks to a low free-kick from Tariq Gasmi ten minutes into the second half.
Budleigh travel to Ipplepen in the Cup on Saturday, while Feniton host Appledore.
