Honiton RFC stormed to an excellent 43-15 victory on a windy weekend, writes Justin Nuttall.
Honiton welcomed back Ollie Rice to the Allhallows after his transfer from Taunton. Ironically, he was playing against another former team in the shape of Exmouth.
After plenty of sparring, Dom Benhardt scored the first try for the Ton, but Exmouth quickly replied, both unconverted. The visitors then scored again to lead 10-5 at the break.
The second half, however, was dominated by Honiton. Matt Bailey forced his way over the line and Benhardt grabbed his second try, converted by Johnny House. A score from James Coutts Tucker extended the lead to 22-10.
Player-coach Steve Smart raced clear for the next try and when House dotted down for 36-10, it was virtually game over. Coutts Tucker found time for another try and, despite a late Exmouth consolation, the Ton had their second successive home win.
