One of the few games to survive the weather in the Devon & Exeter Football League turned out to be a special outing for Millwey Rise 2nds.
Hosting an Amory Rovers team that had defeated them 5-2 a week before Christmas in Division 8, Millwey produced a superb attacking display to dismantle their visitors with an 11-0 victory.
Jack Bennett led the way with four goals, closely followed by a Bailey Hall hat-trick and a double from substitute Matthew Hunt. Josh Marlow and Julien Simier were also on target for a rampant Millwey.
The victory cemented Millwey’s third place position in the table, although they will have a tough task to chase down leading duo, Alphington 3rds and Heavitree United 2nds, both of whom have games in hand on the Rise. Millwey travel to Alphington this weekend and must win to have any chance of a late title push.
