This year's Santa's Choice at Axe Cliff Golf Club was hosted by Seniors Vice Captain, Richard Gibbons, with players suitably adorned for the weather, writes Dave Bruce.
Despite strong winds, the course and greens were in good shape, thanks to Manager Alex and his hardworking team. Jane, our excellent cleaner, is also to be congratulated on keeping the premises pristine throughout the year.
The Santa Champion was John Purdy with a fantastic 42 stableford points. John was pushed all the way by Richard Chambers, who only had one blob on his card of 38 points, which he could have surpassed easily if his putting had been better but still a great display after a recent injury.
The club goes into the New Year with its own water bore hole completed, making us self-sufficient and more improvements planned for both present and future members, who will be offered generous terms to join.
