Honiton and South Molton dished out a rugby cracker before the visitors from North Devon pinched a tight win, 22 – 20, writes Jerry Rice.
South Molton scored an early try in the heavy conditions but the Ton responded brightly, and were unlucky to fall further behind when the visitors intercepted and ran the full length of the pitch to score.
Honiton clawed their way back and scored out wide from a lineout. Sam Olive got the score and he repeated the trick for a half-time score of 10 - 12.
The Ton grabbed the lead when a swift break was finished off by youngster Jake Johnson but South Molton had another response. The score moved to 15 – 22 in favour of the visitors in the closing stages.
With light fading, Honiton dug deep and in the dying seconds Ben Spence crossed, unfortunately it was out wide and the difficult kick for a draw was missed.
