Honiton RFC were blown away by a clinical first-half performance by Barnstaple 2nds on a tough day in North Devon.
Two penalties from Ben Phillips proved scant consolation for the Ton, as they soon trailed 33-6. They did find some fluency after a period of sustained pressure on their hosts, Ben Phillips touching down for a try converted by Phillips.
The home side responded to take the lead to 40-13 but Honiton never gave up, Ben Kidson scoring a fine try wide on the left to make the final score 40-18.
On the junior side of the club, Honiton U8s travelled to Bicton for a match against Withycombe and it turned out to be a brilliant contest, with both sides scoring plenty of tries. All the boys performed superbly and a further demonstration that the future is looking bright for Honiton RFC.
