Honiton Golf Club held its annual presentation night with over sixty trophies to hand out, writes Dave Carnall.
Master of ceremonies, Club Manager Devon Greenslade, had a tricky night ahead of him but, with the help of all the Section captains, the event ran smoothly.
Ladies Captain Jayne Jackson had a brilliant year, winning six trophies! Other multiple winners were John Pawley, Rob Grove, Bernard McVittee and Andy Clark. All were then treated to a superb Buffett by Emma and the catering team.
There was a good turnout for our first winter drawn greensomes, played over 14 holes. Cathy Uttley and Paul Ritchie were the winning pair, scoring an impressive 35 points in very soft conditions. Second place, with 33 points, went to Sue Ritchie and Roger Edwards. There were three pairs who scored 29 points, but with a better countback score, it was Tracey and David Smith who took third prize.
The Friendship Cup, which is the end of season competition for those who play in the regular roll-up on a Tuesday, had 30 players enter in very heavy and wet conditions. It was won by Brian Phillips with a score of 36, no mean feat given the conditions.
