David Carnall retained the 36-hole Marker Cup medal at Honiton Golf Club, beating Kevin Davey by 1 shot, with 42 competitors it was always going to be a tight contest.
The Marker Cup is played over two weekends, Carnall had led Davey by two shots after round one and just held on with a nett 36 hole total of 141, Davey was second with 142 and in third place was Paul Coates with 145.
There was a good turnout for this week's Tuesday Mixed competition with 28 players. The format was a team stableford of four players, with the best man and best ladies scores to count.
Victors, with a substantial margin, were Ann Trayling, John Craig, Georgie and Roger Edwards with a score of 90 points. Second place, with 84 points, went to Caroline and Steve Bond with Kathy de Lacy and Clive Backham. Third place, with 82 points, went to Elizabeth and John Ward with Linda and Steve Blundell.
In the Seniors Medal, Alan Devenny won Division 1, followed by David Scott, John Jackson and Jim Wallis. Graham Cunning took the Division 2 prize.
In the annual Devonians v Foreigners contest, it was a win for the Foreigners 7/12 to 4/12. Foreigners were led by Vice Captain Mark Parkinson who beat Devonian Men's Captain Paul Willey.
Thirty two ladies took part in the Breast Cancer Charity stableford competition. Two ladies scored a winning 40 pts, Kay Honey and Ann Trayling, with Kay the winner on countback, and £159.25 raised for the Breast Cancer charity.
The Seniors were at Dainton Park for the return match, contrary to the weather forecast they enjoyed a glorious sunny day and the course was in a great condition. At home, Honiton enjoyed a win of 4-5, 1-5, and it was always going to be little tough on their patch.
The game could not have been tighter, ending in three games apiece on a superb course just outside Newton Abbot, giving Honiton an overall win of 7.5 to 4.5.
