Honiton Rugby Club produced one of their best performances of the season to trounce North Tawton 46-13 in a display full of exciting rugby, writes Justin Nuttall.
Honiton got the first try of the game through James Goodman, who scored under the posts, and they quickly added a second try off a quick throw in wide left through Ben Spence, conversion missed 12-0.
North Tawton pulled it back to 12-8 but Honiton started the second half well with Ben Kidson scoring on the left off a turnover, 17-8. James Goodman got his second of the match when he out stepped and paced the away side defence to score under the posts. Converted by Ben Phillips 24-8.
The visitors scored next but this was followed by quick tries from Ben Spence and James Goodman, getting his hat-trick and a place in the post-match awards.
James Goodman seemed to be scoring tries for fun this afternoon and got his fourth after good interplay with both Ben’s linking to beat the defence, 39-13. Ben Kidson ran half the length of the pitch to score under the posts after the back line spun the ball out wide, this was converted, leaving the score at 46-13.
