The newly restored Honiton Town 2nd team continued their preparations for the football season with a controlled 3-1 victory over Upottery 2nds.
Upottery were the side to strike first, as the Hippos struggled to find fluency with so many new players looking to gel together. When they did get some rhythm, Tom Lipscomb and Joshua Snook both came close to an equaliser.
Eventually, pressure told early in the second half, when Josh Newbs scored from close range after a Miles Barron corner. Honiton then snatched the lead with a delicious pass from Oliver Bradley releasing Taylor Murphy for an assured finish.
The Hippos were grateful to Russ Bracey for an outstanding save in preserving their lead and a morale-boosting win was confirmed when Muprhy spun his marker and rifled into the net for a 3-1 success, with Barron picking up the man of the match.
