The Honiton Golf Club B team, led by Mark ‘Reggie’ Parkinson, have won back the Baz Shield, writes Dave Carnall.
After losing the away leg 3.5 – 1.5, Honiton needed a 4-2 home victory and that is exactly what they achieved.
Last Wednesday, the ladies competition at Honiton GC was a medal format, with 24 golfers taking part. The prize winners in Division 1 were Kathy de Lacy (nett 70), Ann Trayling (nett 74), Cathy Uttley (nett 77 on countback) and Olwen Eaton (nett 77).
The prize winners in Division 2 were Caroline Bond (nett 70), Jo Donmall (nett 74), Lesley Farley (nett 77 on countback) and Jenny Raison (nett 77).
A further 12 ladies took part in a 9-hole stableford competition, resulting in Linda McLaughline taking first place with 24 points, Hilda Hoepelman (18 points), Monica Scovell (17 points on countback) and Jane Watts (17 points).
Men’s Captain Paul Willey held his Captain’s away day at Dainton Park Golf Club, just outside Newton Abbot, and with the course looking a picture and greens running as fast as most had seen all year, it was Cameron Long who came out the worthy winner with 41 Stableford points.
