Local football teams are making their returns for pre-season training and the excitement at Beer Albion is probably greater than most clubs.
The Beer boys smashed their way to the Devon League title last season and will open the friendly schedule with a trip to Crediton United on Saturday. It is then on to Ilminster on July 18, followed by a home clash with Chard on July 25. The first-team complete their summer programme with a visit from Elburton Villa on July 29.
Beer Albion 2nds have friendly fixtures planned against Uplyme, Axminster 2nds, Elburton 2nds and Feniton 2nds before they embark on a campaign in the Devon & Exeter Football League.
Beer 2nds will compete in Division 2 of the League, while the likes of Colyton, Lyme Regis and Upottery are in the Premier Division. Lyme Regis, meanwhile, were awarded the Bill Rees Sportsmanship Shield at the League AGM.
