The second team took centre stage for Honiton Rugby Club last weekend, as they made the short trip to Tiverton in the Merit Table.
Playing under the Friday night floodlights, early going was tough for both teams and, while the Ton dominated the line-out, scoring opportunities were scarce.
Five minutes before half-time, Tiverton broke the deadlock with a converted try that came against the run of play but the Ton quickly replied, Ben Holmes racing clear from inside his own half for a superb score, 7-5 to Tivvy.
The hosts were reduced to 14 men after a red card for fighting and Will Leonard slotted the resultant penalty. Honiton were heading for victory until Tiverton forced their way over the line for a late lead, and then added a penalty to make the final score 17-8. Man of the match went to Reuben Smit for his tireless display.
