Millwey Rise have opened up a cushion in third place in Division 5 of the Devon & Exeter League after a confident 3-0 victory at the University of Exeter.
Nathan Womersley put Millwey ahead in the 35th minute when he finished off a delightful move involving Dave Bridges and Joe Osborne. University, with the wind behind them, continued making inroads and creating chances but again it was 'Rise' who added to their tally when Womersley's cross-shot flew into the net.
A brilliant save by Flynn Smith preserved the two-goal advantage and the win was confirmed when Womersley thundered a great strike against the bar and Osborne was on hand to poke in the rebound.
Millwey Rise 2nds also enjoyed a winning afternoon, as goals from Mat Hunt and a Jack Bennett penalty earned them a 2-0 win at home Starcross Dons, consolidating the Rise in fourth place.
