The Anchor Inn hosted a presentation night for Axe Cliff Golf Club, with Harvey Gibbons handing over the club captaincy to Brendon Isaac.
Mark Hubbard picked up three trophies on the night and Nigel Pritchard was also among those honoured, while on the course, outgoing captain Harvey and his dad Richard won round six of the Winter League with a magnificent nett 62.
Richard also did well in the Seniors Winter League, finishing second with a fine 40 points, and just missing out on the top position to club treasurer Bill Polley with 42, as the sun finally shined on the weather-beaten golfers.
Terry Atkins is leading the way for the Seniors but Mike Wickens is in hot pursuit and Steve Thompson, playing off an impressive 5.8 handicap, demonstrated some of his array of shots by hitting three birdies. Is it too early to say spring is in the air at Axe Cliff?
