Honiton made the most of a sunny weekend on the English Riviera to secure a battling 22-12 victory at Brixham 2nds.
The Ton opened the scoring with a try from James Coutts Tucker, converted by Dom Lovesy, who then added a penalty to extend the lead to 10-0. Brixham hit back with a couple of penalties of their own after some ill-discipline from Honiton.
Brixham attempted to turn the screw early in the second period and they moved to within a point of the Ton with another penalty. Lovesy and the Brixham kicker exchanged more points to leave the game poised on 12-17 for the visitors.
The crucial scored arrived 13 minutes from time, when Honiton moved the ball wide for Rob Price to dot down in the corner. The Ton held on for a deserved victory, despite playing the closing minutes with a man down after a sin bin for Coutts Tucker.
