Honiton Rugby produced a display of composed efficiency to storm past Exmouth 2nds with a 39-10 in an entertaining local derby.
Playing against the wind in the first half, the Ton took a while to adjust to the conditions, eventually edging ahead of their hosts through a Jake Smith penalty. The first try arrived on the half-hour, Dom Bernhardt crashing over after a fluid move down the right.
Bernhardt scored again early in the second half, converted by Smith, who also bagged another penalty for Honiton to build a 15-0 lead. Exmouth responded with their first try but the result was effectively sealed when Ton skipper Jonny House dived over after a quick tap near the line.
Exmouth scored again but a late Ton flurry saw Dom Lovesly dot down after another burst down the right and Robert Price got over the line for a final converted try.
