Millwey Rise are up to third in Division 5 of the Devon & Exeter League after a composed 3-1 victory at home to Cranbrook United.
Luke Furlow opened the scoring inside the first minute, tucking away an astute assist from Sam Dibling, and Rise went on to dominate the opening half, which made it even more frustrating when they were pegged back by a Cranbrook equaliser.
Dibling struck the bar and forced a top save from the visiting custodian early in the second period, as Rise cranked up the pressure. The reward finally arrived when Dibling again found the pass for Furlow to convert.
Millwey spurned a number of chances to extend the lead before finally sealing the victory through Zak Meaker, pouncing on a Cranbrook error to rifle home a decisive third.
A satisfying weekend for the club was completed by a 3-2 victory for the reserves at Lympstone 2nds.
