Beer Albion’s defence of the Devon Premier Cup continued into round three after an efficient 3-0 victory at Newton Abbot Spurs 2nds.
The Fishermen were in relative control for the entire match but entered the final stages with just a Tony Pinder goal to show for their efforts. Giles Basson sauntered through the Newton defence and his shot was deflected over the line by an alert Pinder.
Beer were rarely threatened by their hosts and confirmed progress to the next stage with James Hill finishing off a lovely team move and Charley Skilton capitalising on a goalkeeping error.
Beer Albion 2nds matched the result of the first-team, as they beat Lympstone 3-0 in the Devon and Exeter League. Young goalkeeper Adam Clinch enjoyed a super debut between the sticks and a penalty by Simon Smith, plus goals from Alex Paget and Reece Best, ensured a third win of the season for the Fishermen.
