A singer-songwriter is set to perform in Honiton this month.
Christine Collister will be taking to the stage at The Beehive in Honiton on November 21 at 7.30pm.
She is currently touring for the first time in four years and will be performing songs from the Children of the Sea project as well as some old favourites.
Christine's career began more than 40 years ago and she has released 24 albums, a DVD, and an acclaimed single with the BBC, which was the theme tune for The Life and Loves of a She-Devil in 1987.
The singer grew up on the Isle of Man, and her professional recording career began after she moved to the UK in the mid-1980s.
She became known after singing the theme for the BBC Television series The Life and Loves Of A She Devil.
Christine has performed at major international festivals including Glastonbury and Cambridge.
The Times said Christine has a "voice personally delivered by God" and Froots said she has a "killer voice, as full as Dusty Springfield or as blue as Alison Moyet".
The Children of the Sea project, to be released in 2024, is a collection of nine original songs inspired by Manx folklore and a sense of place.
The CD is accompanied by a book complete with lyrics, inspirations, stories, and original illustrations by Manx artists.
The project was part-funded by the Isle of Man Arts Council, Culture Vannin, and Fledgling Records.
Christine has also been a part of many musical projects over the years.
Her most recent collaboration with Australian guitarist Michael Fix led to the release of their second CD, North & South, in October 2019.
This was followed by a sell-out tour of the UK and an equally successful tour of the Australian Festival scene in 2020.
A concert review by Michael Fine at Troubadour Woy Woy NSW said: "Christine Collister's singing was powerful and emotional, shifting effortlessly from soft and angelic to knock you out Janice Joplin style.
"Michael Fix's guitar was equally superb.
"He provided tasteful support in the most charming way and would then explode into amazing virtuoso runs across the fingerboard, all impeccably tasteful and clean."
Tickets for Christine's performance at The Beehive Honiton on November 21 are priced at £17.
They can be booked online at beehivehoniton.co.uk or by calling The Beehive on 01404 384050.
The Beehive is located on Dowell Street, Honiton, EX14 1LZ.
