THE results are in and Axminster Station businesses The Ale Way and the Railway Kitchen have officially got through to the Semi Finals of the World Cup of Stations.
Each year the tournament, organised by the Rail Delivery Group, celebrates great stations all across the UK and their businesses.
Established in 2019, the competition challenges carefully shortlisted stations to battle it out head-to-head in an online public vote.
The Ale Way and the Railway Kitchen are up against the following stations in the Semi Finals: Thornton Heath, Lewes and King’s Lynn.
To vote you can visit https://www.raildeliverygroup.com/our-services/campaigns/world-cup-of-stations.html or https://www.southwesternrailway.com/travelling-with-us/at-the-station/world-cup-of-stations
Voting will take place on Thursday, October 17 (for one day only).
Should Axminster get through to the final it will be held on Friday, October 18 and the results will be announced on Tuesday, October 23.
Local MP Richard Foord said: “With an excellent cafe, an outstanding pub and helpful staff, who wouldn't vote for Axminster. Axminster station has deservedly won a huge victory over Bristol Temple Meads. Thanks for your support. On to the next round.”
