The Seaton Memory Café has donated more than £4,000 to the Seaton and District Hospital League of Friends.

The group, which was run by volunteers for 10 years, officially handed over the cheque for £4,450.77 on Monday, September 3.

The money will be ring-fenced for the memory café, which provides a safe space for people living with dementia and their carers.

Yvonne Addington, who ran the memory café for the last decade, handed over the cheque to Carol Rowe, secretary for the league, and Mary Bowles, the new facilitator of the monthly memory café meetings.

Yvonne said: "It is with great pleasure that the former Seaton Memory Café, which was run by volunteers for 10 years, is now ready to hand over the reins to the Seaton and District Hospital League of Friends Memory Café volunteer team.

"We know that they will continue to support the people living with the effects of dementia.

"We would like to say a huge thank you to all the people who have supported and made donations to Seaton Memory Café throughout our journey of 10 years and sincerely hope that your support will continue with the league’s team at the helm."

The memory café meets on the first Monday of the month at Seaton Methodist Church Hall from 2pm to 4pm.

Carol and Mary, along with their dedicated team of volunteers, look forward to continuing to provide the valuable service,
