Celebrations took place at Lyme Regis RNLI lifeboat station this weekend.

This was after volunteer bucket collector Joshua Denning received ITV News West Country's Pride of Britain Fundraiser of the Year award.

The 20-year-old has been a supporter of the RNLI and other charities since childhood and is consistently the top volunteer collector.

His efforts have seen him raise more than £50,000 for the RNLI and other charities.

His award was presented at a surprise event at the lifeboat station, attended by family, friends, and representatives of the organisations he supports.

ITV West Country News featured the award presentation on its Friday, September 20, evening bulletin.

On Saturday morning, September 21, the RNLI-911 Challenge team was welcomed onto the lifeboat slipway by the volunteer RNLI crew.

This is part of their quest to raise £110,000, the cost of a new D Class inshore lifeboat.

Chef and food writer Gill Meller also supported the RNLI by setting up a barbecue outside the lifeboat station on Saturday afternoon.

He cooked and sold fresh fish burgers, with all proceeds donated to the charity.

Mr Meller aimed to raise awareness of produce and its natural, delicious taste when cooked in the open air.

Lyme Regis and Charmouth RNLI Supporters Group chair Ken Lavery said: "We are delighted and proud that our star collector Josh Denning has received such a prestigious award.

"He really deserves it for the hard work he has done for the RNLI and for other charities."

"As fundraisers, we are always looking for ways of raising the funds the RNLI needs to continue its lifesaving work 24/7 and 365 days a year.

"To that end, we are also delighted Gill Meller supported us by selling his excellent fresh fish burgers and that James and Belinda Richardson were able to stop off at Lyme Regis RNLI on their tour visiting all the RNLI’s 238 lifeboat stations in this its 200th anniversary year."
