Broadhembury Church of England Primary School has celebrated a successful summer fair, which raised more than £2,000.

Hosted by the primary school's PTFA (Parent, Teacher and Friends Association), not even the poor weather could dampen the spirits of those who attended the event.

Bringing together the school and local community, the summer fair was a significant success for all involved.

The funds raised at the event, which was held on Saturday,  July 20, will be used to enrich the experiences of the children at the school.

The day was filled with family friendly games, which the children and adults had great fun trying to win, while there were also food stalls and a raffle with some incredible prizes.

PTFA chair Hollie Doidge said: "It is great to be able to put on events like this and we are enjoying playing a part in the rural community.

“We could not do any of this without the support of the village and I would also like to thank all of the local businesses that have supported the event, we really appreciate it. We are looking forward to the year ahead.”

The school's PTFA have also been involved in other fundraising ventures and supported a number of memorable experiences for the children within the school, including May Day, Sports day, the end of year production and the annual leavers service.

Mr Butler, acting executive head, said: “As Broadhembury join the Link Academy Trust in September, it is great to see the PTFA so active and supporting the school so admirably.

“Having the support of the parents and local community is an integral part of a thriving village school and I am excited to continue to work alongside the PTFA and others in the community to really bring back the community spirit at the school.”
