The Beehive is a rewarding platform for those who have spare time they wish to enrich by giving back to their community.

Becoming a volunteer offers a range of benefits, including acquiring new skills, expanding personal experiences, and boosting self-confidence.

Above all, you will meet like-minded people who also cherish and wish to contribute to their area.

One of Beehive's volunteers, Julie, shared her experience of contributing to the community.

Julie moved from Birmingham to Honiton in 2023 and began volunteering at The Beehive in November the same year.

She loves the sense of community and camaraderie that comes with her roles as a steward and a bar volunteer.

She said: "I love helping and giving back.

"I've volunteered in many guises in the past including fundraising for the RSPCA, working in an Extra Care charity shop and walking dogs for the Cinnamon Trust.

"Working at The Beehive feels like I'm part of the community, volunteering with like-minded people who are all about 'giving back' their time.

"As a newbie to Devon, it’s a good way for me to get to know others in the area and establish some links to Honiton."

The Beehive's volunteering opportunities are diverse, flexible and can be tailored to fit individual schedules and preferences.

Available roles include stewards for cinema and live events, café workers with flexible daytime hours, bar workers for evenings, a film tech/projectionist, and room and stage setup.

For those interested in volunteer opportunities, regardless of being experienced or novice, The Beehive welcomes your time and offers full training for all roles.

If you wish to be part of this stimulating community hub, you can reach out to The Beehive at 01404 384050 for more information.

Please note that volunteers must be over 18 years old.
