Pecorama, celebrated one of its popular locomotives’ birthdays last week, with ‘Otter’ turning 20.

The charming locomotive was the centre of attention on its special day and invited some special steam guests to join in the celebration, with visiting engines Cackler, No10, and Callum making their way to Pecorama and bringing their own unique charm to the event.

Enthusiasts and visitors alike enjoyed rides around the track, soaking in the views as well as shuttle runs extended out to the enchanting Wildway Walk area.

Adding to the charm of the celebration, miniature traction engines were on display, captivating guests with their intricate designs and historical significance. The sight of these miniature marvels, coupled with the regular engines, created a nostalgic and lively atmosphere.

Pecorama say that the event was a 'resounding succes's, with full trains and enthusiastic passengers at every turn. The spirit of the day was captured beautifully in countless photographs and videos by visitors, preserving the joy and excitement of Otter’s special day.

Pecorama Events Officer, Samantha Maddox said: “It was lovely to see the community come together, sharing in the celebration of one of our locomotives.” Otter’s 20th birthday comes just a year before the visitor attractions 50th anniversary in 2025.

Pecorama is one of Devon’s leading tourist attractions – set high on the hillside above Beer. Visitors can expect a great day out for all the family, enjoying award-winning gardens, stunning sea views, home-made food and a selection of refreshments from their kiosks and, of course, rides on Britain’s finest 7.25 inch railway, where a fleet of steam locomotives pull passenger-carrying trains on a mile long route through the grounds, over bridges, through steep-sided cuttings and a long, dark tunnel! There are also large outside play areas, a lovely wildway walk with stunning views, a wild pond, bug hotel and zip wire.
