Two Exeter city centre police community support officers were assaulted while on foot patrol in Gandy Street on Saturday evening (June 22).
Devon and Cornwall Police say they would like to thank the members of the public and door staff, who helped the PCSO’s until police officers arrived.
The male was arrested on suspicion of two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, being drunk and disorderly, and homophobic and racially aggravated public order offences.
A spokesman added: "We take zero tolerance with these kind of public order offences and our Officers being assaulted on duty. Thank you to those who helped."
