Seaton's Elaine Simmons is taking part in a Memory Walk in aid of Seaton & District Hospital League of Friends.

The walk will raise money for 'Seaton Hospice at Home' service from June 10th to 14 in memory of Kimmarie Skinner-Parkes 55 who died on June 14 2023 and her husband Paul Parkes who died March 2023 both died last year from cancer but were helped by the League's 'Seaton Hospice at Home' service.

Kim and Paul were a very well known couple in Seaton, running 'Beano's' hot dog shop on the seafront, Kim had also worked at Seaton Tesco.

Elaine Simmons "Kim and Paul did a lot of charity work in Seaton, especially for the Devon Air ambulance. They are sorely missed. I went to Axminster Secondary School with Kim. She was born in Weston Super Mare and died in Seaton so I am walking from her birth place to where she passed away. The walk is about 60 miles long and I'm hoping to collect donations on the way. People can look on Facebook for Seaton memories and see my page. I've already raised £318.00. I'm finishing my walk on 14th June at 9.45am (the time I heard she had passed) paying respect at her graveside and ending on Seaton seafront at 9.45am.

"The League would like to thank Elaine for undertaking this fundraising walk in memory of her dear friend Kimmarie.

"Our Seaton Hospice at Home nurses had the privilege of caring for Kimmarie in her own home, for her last few weeks. The monies raised will enable the League to continue funding this much needed service for future patients."

To make a donation follow the link to her fundraiser on the League's Facebook page or donations can also be made via the League's website.
