Alex Kirkbridge, the headteacher of Honiton Community College has announced he is stepping down at the end of the academic year.
In a letter to parents dated Monday April 29. He said he has been head at the college for two years as headteacher and more than ten years as a school leader, he is now stepping down as Headteacher of Honiton Community College.
He goes on to list his achievements during his time at the college saying the school is now 'in line with, and in many areas above, the national average, for the first time in a long time.'
Alex Kirkbride said: "While I have decided it is time for me to move on, I am committed to a smooth transition and eager to enable the school to grow and flourish so that every child can thrive at HCC.
"This school is one I love and have worked tirelessly to improve and enable all children to thrive. I am so proud of all the students and staff at HCC.
"This is a special school community and I have been proud to lead it for the last two years. I look forward to watching it go from strength to strength.
In September, when schools return from summer break, Caroline Brothwood senior deputy headteacher at West Exe School will be interim headteacher while recruitment takes place for a permanent head.
Caroline will work closely with Alex during the last half term to make for a smoother transition for students and staff. She is eager to have a chance to meet students, staff, families and governors and learn more about this unique and special school community before formally beginning her position in September.
