Axmouth Children's Theatre recently put on two nights of pantomime titled 'Snow White and the 7 Princesses', penned and directed by Malcolm Henty.
The storyline involved seven Disney princesses captured by the wicked Queen, played by Poppy Coleman, who was envious of their beauty. This was brought on by reminders from Sophia Ehnoid-Evans' character of the mirror with attitude.
However, the plan backfired when Snow White, played by Lucie Sansom, evaded her capture and Jake Pearce as Woody is tricked to allow the princesses to make their daring escape.
Audience participation in the sold-out shows reportedly heightened the enjoyment, with spectators joining in enthusiastically to boo and applaud the characters.
The performance benefitted from a strong and lively cast and an efficient backstage crew.
Key scenes involved the discovery of a key by the Queen's servants, Polly and Sukie, played by Amber Fealey and Eva Crabbe respectively.
Notably, Prince Charlie, played by Emily Dyer, added an amusing touch to the journey to find Snow White with a pair of roller skates.
The Fairy Godmother, portrayed by Georgia Williams, amused the audience by suggesting they sing along to "The Combine Harvester" by The Wurzels, a nod to the west country origin of the audience.
While all princesses mastered their roles, adding vibrant colour and glimmer, a noteworthy picnic scene was led by Lisa Dufield, Freya Blake, and Winnie Steele, who charmingly portrayed the three bears Sugar Plum, Snuggles, and Cuddles.
Rapunzel was played by Betsy Chadwick, with Martha Fealey as Pocahontas, Philippa Willmott as Sleeping Beauty, Amelia Miller as Cinderella, Pippa Streele as Jasmine, Roxy Barrand as Ariel and Millie Blake as Belle.
