Seaton Town Council is looking for people who can spare a few hours a month to set up a new volunteer Emergency Response Group in the town.

Many East Devon towns now have an emergency response group that can help the community prepare for emergencies such as flooding, heavy snow, or power cuts.

A spokesman for Seaton Town Council said: "We need some individuals to meet up over coffee and biscuits to discuss the best way to get this group up and running. There is no need for prior experience or physical fitness and talents such as local knowledge or making a good cup of tea is very welcome.

There will also be support available from the Environment Agency and Devon Communities Together who can also provide them with grants for meetings and emergency equipment.

Seaton was badly hit by flooding during Storm Isha last year, The Hideaway on Seaton seafront was damaged and is still trying to get back up and running.

Pictures were also published in the Herald, showing Seaton Esplanade covered in water and flooded out cars as the sea came over the flood defences.
