The owners of The Malt House pub and restaurant in Seaton have announced that it will be closing on Tuesday, January 2.
In a post on Facebook they say they are 'devastated' to be leaving after 10 years, but are unable to continue with the business.
The post says: "There have been a number of economical factors at play but our biggest setback was having a poor summer. In a seasonal town you need a good summer to get through the winter and with no signage, external lighting and decoration along with scaffolding surrounding the building made this impossible for us.
"Thank you to all our customers for your support over the years, it has meant more than you could imagine. Thank you to all the team that have worked with us and supported us over the years. Whilst we are still open stock will be limited for some menu items and we will be closed for food tomorrow so that we have enough to service our bookings.
"Please feel free to come and drink our bar dry over the next few days and say goodbye! Please continue to support our local hospitality businesses!"
The post has attracted dozens of comments expressing sadness at the news, praising the food and drink they have enjoyed at the Malt House, and wishing the owners the best of luck in their next venture.
