Honiton Lions’ annual charity draw, with prizes donated by local businesses, will take place at the Otter Inn on Sunday, September 24.
Tickets have been selling well and have so far raised £1,800.
Another good source of fundraising was the Lions Classic Car Show, held at Allhallows Playing Field on Honiton Charter Day (July 29). The event raised £620 and a further £420 was received from sales of plants, jewellery and books.
Honiton Lions have presented a total of £1,950 in donations to charities and other good causes in the last two months:
£250 to Honiton Air Training Corps, who helped the Lions with the Classic Car Show
£100 to Lion Heidi Nathan who will be joining a charity climbing expedition to Mount Kenya, the second highest peak in Africa. The event is in aid of school for the visually impaired
£500 to Exeter Leukaemia Fund
£250 to a Cranbrook family whose baby needed specialist treatment as a result of a stroke
£250 to the Kids Cancer Charity
£100 to Honiton Museum
£500 to the Lions International Eye Centre based in the Korle Bu teaching hospital in Ghana
The Lions have also presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Mandy Patch, landlady at the Otter Inn, in recognition of her efforts raising money for Lions charities by raffling Easter eggs and selling tickets for the charity draw.
