Axminster Guildhall says it is ‘pleased to announce’ that an ice rink will be set up at the venue this Christmas.

Taking place from December 17, the Guildhall is now attempting to secure sponsorship from local businesses to try and help make ticket prices as low as possible. 

Tickets will go on sale on September 1. Axminster Guildhall launched a survey on March 9 to see if residents would like an ice skating rink this Christmas.  

The Guildhall says in the survey that it has the opportunity to bring ice skating to the venue on a Sunday in November or December this year. 

The survey response from residents was found to be possible so Axminster Guildhall have been working behind the scenes to get the event organised in time. 

The question they wanted to be answered is: would you be interested in an event like this? 

A spokesman for Axminster Guildhall said: "This is quite an expensive event to put on and, as we would like to keep prices as low as possible. 

"If we go ahead with it, we would put on other Christmassy activities, at the same time, but we are judging interest first."
