Four people have been arrested after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle which had been seen being driven dangerously in the Cranbrook area.
Police were called out at around midday on Wednesday, June 21 to reports of the erratic driving, but the vehicle failed to stop for officers.
Soon afterwards it collided with a woman in the Pinhoe area of Exeter, leaving her with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
Police say they believe the car, a grey Peugeot 508 saloon, had been stolen from the Exeter area.
An 18-year-old man from the Exeter area and three younger teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. All four remain in police custody.
Devon and Cornwall Police is making a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct [IOPC] following the incident. This has to be done when there has been a death or injury in an incident involving the police, and the circumstances need to be looked into. The force will wait for a decision from the IOPC on how it will proceed with the matter.
Anyone who witnessed the incident in Pinhoe, has Ring doorbell/dashcam footage that could help with enquiries, or has other information, is asked to contact police via their website or by calling 101 quoting log 773 of 20/06/23.
