Two Devon women are limbering up as they prepare to walk across Devon for charity in June.
Local mums Lisa Supple, from Dunkeswell, and Liz White, from Feniton, are keen to raise funds for Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) and RNLI as they take on the Two Moors Way challenge.
Next month, the pair will trek the 117-mile coast-to-coast trail from Wembury in Devon, across Dartmoor, through Morchard Bishop and Witheridge, then just over the Somerset border through Exmoor National Park, finishing at Lynmouth.
The long-time friends will start off on June 22 and travel the whole way with all their kit for camping under the stars, hoping to cross the finish line on June 26 or 27.
Along with their dogs, Roxy and Blue, Lisa and Liz’s walk is set to challenge their minds and our bodies.
Liz said: “After getting Lisa to jump out of an aeroplane for charity a few years ago, how could I say no when she came up with this one?
“The skydive was in memory of my dad and raised money for Force, one of the two charities my mum and dad supported by opening their gardens a few times a year.
“I've wanted to do something to raise funds for Devon Air Ambulance Trust for for a while which was the other charity they supported. Combining DAAT with RNLI was perfect with both Lisa and myself enjoying various outdoor pursuits.
“Hopefully we will never need either but they are such amazing services and i just want to do my bit to support them.
“I'm a little nervous, especially carrying my full kit bag but really looking forward to an adventure and plenty of laughs and stories with Lisa along the way.”
Lisa added: “I felt like I wanted to challenge myself — maybe a midlife crisis — and heard about the Two Moors Way. I sent a message to Liz, whom I'd done previous crazy fundraising stuff, and she replied, ‘Hell yes!’, so here we are!
“We spend so much time exploring the great outdoors and on or in the sea, I thought I’d like to fundraise for RNLI and Devon Air Ambulance Trust as they both do such fabulous jobs at assisting and saving lives. We are hoping to raise £1,000 to split between them.”
