Axminster Guildhall would like to build a new communtiy cinema within the Guildhall.
If up and running, the cinema can show films, the hope is they can also screen sporting events and big tv events.
They are hosing to raise £1,500 for a black drape curtain, projector screen, tracking and some electrical bits and bobs.
This would be in the Jubilee Room, to start with and could then snowball into a regular film night.
A spokesman for Axminster Guildhall said: "We have been trying and talking about this for a long time, but we have decided to go for it.
"We would like some funding to help start up a community cinema project in the Axminster Guildhall. This would be in the Jubilee Room - hopefully increasing if popular."
