A man from Honiton has admitted strangling his former partner during an attack in the town.
Written by Midweek Herald court reporter.
Tyler Rawlings, aged 19, who is currently living in Bristol, pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily hand and intentional strangulation when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court.
Both offences took place on October 2 last year and involved the same victim.
Rawlings’s sentence was adjourned for a mental health assessment and a probation pre-sentence report by Recorder Mr Mathew Turner. He was bailed with a condition not to contact the victim or go to addresses in Honiton and Cullompton.
Miss Mary McCarthy, defending, said the reports would be useful because Rawlings has been suffering from mental health issues and has recently been sectioned.
Tyler Rawlings appeared at Exeter Crown Court by video link because he was prevented from attending in person by a rail strike.
