130 new homes could be built on land next to Harepath Road in Seaton.
The application has been prepared by Boyle & Summers, on behalf of Baker Estates who are asking for: "Outline planning application for mixed use development comprising of up to 130 dwellings to the east of Harepath Road and the laying out of a new community football pitch, parking and welfare facilities to the west of Harepath Road, formation of accesses on Harepath Road and Colyton Road, public open space and other associated infrastructure."

Up to 130 new homes in a mix of bungalows and two storey houses for around 280 people, supported by green areas and play spaces. 25 per cent of which will be affordable housing, available to local households either via shared ownership or affordable rent options.
25 per cent of affordable homes is an requirement set out in East Devon District Council's Local Plan.
A sports pitch which the applicant says will 'meet the requirements of the local community. The pitch has been positioned to the west of Harepath Road and will provide recreation space for the community and promote healthy and active lifestyles.'
The applicant would also like to create a 'bat corridor along the northern boundary to protect flight zones and foraging areas' and a footpath to allow residents to walk into Seaton town centre.
The application at this stage is 'outline planning' which means plans are submitted and accessed by planning officers befre being decided or refused. If they are approved, the applicant will submit a more detailed plan to officers.
The site is outside the Seaton Flood Plain and the River Axe Special Area of Conservation but drainage still needs to be carefully considered. A detailed plan will be submitted at the next stage of the planning application.
