Bronze Age Dawlish Hoard: Topic explored at Lyme Regis talk

Thomas Cadbury, curator of Archaeology and Antiquities at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter, will take to the stage of the Woodmead Hall on October 3, 2.30pm to share Hoard Stories - the story of the Bronze Age Dawlish Hoard.

Friends of the Lyme Regis Philpot Museum are hosting the event, which costs £2 for members and £4 for visitors.

Mr Cadbury's talk will concentrate on recent finds in East Devon, including the exceptional Dawlish Hoard, which held unique treasures of both bronze and gold.

There will also be some highlights from Dorset.

Mr Cadbury believes that the hoard could have been an offering to the gods to mark a significant point in a person’s life, such as marriage or death.
