Axminster staged a D-Day 80 event on June 8, 2024, in commemoration of those brave veterans who fought in the historic landings.
The event, organised by the Axminster branch of the Royal British Legion kicked-off at noon and last until 3.30pm on Axminster Minster Green.
The day featured activities featuring speeches, live musical performances, and historical displays. Youngsters will have interactive moments with the past while food stalls cater to attendees' needs.
Local primary and secondary schools were also at the event, and held speeches and a wreath at the war memorial on Minster Green.
A live vintage singer performed to heighten the nostalgic ambience. Interactive talks will build understanding of D-Day's history and importance.
Organisers aim to offer something for everyone so the community can unite in remembrance and gratitude.
